Meet Rochester MN

Future home to Destination Medical Center, THE global destination for health and wellness.

Rochester, Minnesota is a one of a kind city to live, work, and invest in—progressive ideals, polite people, and peace of mind. People love to live here because of our safe, clean, and simple way of life. We value city parks, outdoor life, and midwestern sensibility. Our restaurants, playspaces, arts, and events are a celebration of community and culture. At the heart of it all is the Mayo Clinic, once again named the best hospital in the world.

Our town of 125,000 (and counting) in Olmsted County is

Rochester

Rochester’s legacy came to life in the form of a great partnership between Dr. William W. Mayo and the Sisters of St. Francis when they opened St. Mary’s Hospital in 1889, in rapid-response to The Great Tornado, which killed 37 people and left another 200 injured in its wake.

Their servant-leadership and citizen-led crisis response attracted national attention and together, they collected $60,000 dollars (over $1.5mil in modern money) and thereby launched a legacy of public-private partnership that would influence the next 130+ years of modern medicine. It was the birth of the Mayo Clinic.

Today, the City of Rochester has a vision to double-down on that legacy and invest in that quality-of-life secured by the vibrant growth and vision of Dr. Mayo and the Sisters of St. Francis.

Destination Medical Center (DMC) is the largest public-private economic initiative in Minnesota and the catalyst for growth in Rochester. Today, it represents the largest per capita spend for any such project and it brings Mayo together with major medical tech players (think Google and Apple), the City of Rochester, and Olmsted County.

The goal? To double the population of Rochester by 2040 and to make Mayo the destination Center of the World.

Economic Development, Affordable Housing, and Intentionality by Design

Work is well underway in revitalizing downtown to grow into its vision to be a medical and tech hub. To get there, we must:

  1. Increase the workforce
  2. Develop public infrastructure
  3. Become the world’s best hospital

Between One Discovery Square, the future Two Discovery Square, and the revitalization of St Mary’s Place, downtown Rochester is quickly becoming a vastly walkable, thriving, robust, urban town center. The city we call home is a beautiful, safe, comfortable place to be.

Black Swan Real Estate is developing a strong collaborative relationship with Destination Medical Center. Who better, really, to take ownership over developing the affordable housing that will be desperately needed to support this effort? We are former Mayo employees and we understand physician wellness and culture. As long-term Rochester residents, we know just what the community needs to have peace of mind with their housing situations.

We are in rapid-acquisition mode, taking over C-class housing and renovating it to B-class. From Single Family Homes, to multifamily apartment buildings, to new-construction townhomes. We are collaborating with investors, other real estate developers, and community leaders to do everything in our power to meet the rapid rise in population and do it with care and intention. And we have just the management team (Black Swan Living) to manage the assets, improve the financial health in neighborhoods, and take care of the people who live there.

Won’t you join us?
