The Dorothy Day Hospitality House
The Stageberg Family Foundation is all about supporting our community, and there is nothing closer to home than the Dorothy Day Hospitality House – located right next door to our downtown campus.
The Dorothy Day Hospitality House is a temporary homeless shelter providing warm beds and community resources. Their team of volunteers has served the downtown Rochester community since 1984, and have helped thousands of guests in need. The impact of the Dorothy Day Hospitality House on the community is immeasurable. The organization relies solely on donations and volunteers, and every little bit helps to keep the operation running.
More than 30 years of providing meals and shelter puts quite a bit of strain on a house. The kitchen is essential to the daily operations of the Dorothy Day Hospitality House, producing an impressive amount of hot meals for those in need. When we visited, the kitchen was in desperate need of repair. They were operating at capacity, waiting on funding and supply chains to replace broken appliances. This sacred space is where the Stageberg Family Foundation was called to serve.
It’s amazing that renovating a kitchen—something we’ve become experts at—can be such a huge support to the community.
We are pleased to share that, thanks to your enrollment in Single Family at Scale and your at-will donations, the Stageberg Family Foundation donated $5,000 to the Dorothy Day Hospitality House to upgrade their kitchen so they can continue their incredible work.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this organization right down the block from the Black Swan downtown campus. By joining together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those in need, spreading love and warmth throughout our community.
Here’s to making the world a better place to live.
